Brief reminders to all conference participants

First, if you have not made hotel reservations at the conference hotel, Hilton Knoxville, please contact us immediately. The hotel agreed to hold our block of rooms only until March 13 but we are willing to request on your behalf that they accept late reservations at the conference rate. However, we must do so this week. Please contact Sacit Cetiner cetinerms@ornl.gov as soon as possible with your request.

Second, if you are interested in either Professional Development Workshop (Digital I&C or Human Factors), I would encourage you to register in advance. When the workshops are filled, no further registrants can be accommodated.

Third, several of our Day Tours for Guests and Spouses have minimum participation requirements. If we do not receive sufficient pre-conference registration, these events may be cancelled. Please do not wait until the week of the conference to register. If you are interested in an event but desire more information, please contact our Guest Program Chair, Beth Wood bethiew@charter.net.

Presentation instructions to NPIC&HMIT 2009 authors

Each author is allotted 25 minutes for presentation. This time slot includes any questions and answers (Q&A). Plan for a 20-22 minute presentation to allow time for one or two questions. A good rule of thumb is to assume that each viewgraph will require 2 minutes for presentation. Consequently, a twenty-minute presentation should generally consist of 10 viewgraphs, not counting the title slide.Session Chairs will be instructed to interrupt a presentation that exceeds its time allocation.

Each meeting room will be equiped with a laptop computer, projector, screen, and microphone. The laptop computer in each room will be able to execute Microsoft PowerPoint or Adobe Acrobat presentation files. The connection between the computer and projector will be pre-configured so the use of personal laptops for individual presentations will be strongly discouraged.

We need your presentation file by no later than April 2. Please send the file to Robby Joseph josephiraiii@ornl.gov with a copy to Richard Wood woodrt@ornl.gov. The file should be titled as follows: NPIC_userid#.ext with the "user id" being the user id that you specified when you created you NPIC&HMIT 2009 login profile, the # being the paper number (i.e., 1, 2, 3) assigned to this particular presentation (you can login into the website and select "Update paper profile and/or see reviewer comments" to find the paper number for each paper you submitted), and ext being the software extension (e.g., ppt or pdf).

There is no conference template for presentations or specific style requirements. As noted above, the presentation must be provided in either Microsoft PowerPoint or Adobe Acrobat format for display. We will try to provide an opportunity for authors to preview their presentation prior to their session so that potential display problems can be identified and corrected in advance.

As a final request, please also send a brief biographical sketch (e.g., name, company, position or responsibilities, educational background, technical areas of specialization or expertise, etc.) along with your presentation. This information will facilitate your introduction by the Session Chairs.
